Who knew?
Ok, so we just started this book. So there's not a whole lot I can talk about, but I'm already finding myself enjoying it. Let's start with Captain Walton. I can't help but feel sorry for him, but I also feel some pity for him. The man just wants to be loved people. So, how about this doctor Frankenstein character? Weird, no? I can't help but to wonder: Who is this guy, and why is he so strange? I have a feeling that all my questions will be answered soon enough. So tonight, I will leave you with a question. My question is this: Who knew, before starting the book, that Frankenstein was the name of the doctor, not the monster? I feel like I have been lied to all my life. But I know now, so fair enough.

Amanda, the green color on your blog is perfect for Frankie. I agree with your assessment of the captain. I mean, here's this courageous hero who is determined to brave the harshest elements and go where no one has gone before, and yet he's toppled by such a basic need for companionship. I think everyone probably feels the tug of loneliness at least once in their life. OK, when I first read FRANKIE in college, I had no idea "Frankenstein" was the name of the scientist and not the monster. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I actually knew before I read the book that Frankenstein is the name of the doctor and not the creature, that is just because of my father though!!! Along with you, I too feel pity for the Captain because he is alone and he needs companionship. I really like the title of your blog too!
