Humans Suck

Something that the monster says in the book really got me thinking. When the monster vows to take revenge on all humans, his creator in particular, it really caught my eye. While this is 99% irrational, there is a little bit of me that knows where he is coming from. Most people are so quick to judge and form ideas about others, which seems to be a reoccuring theme in this novel. Look what humans did to the monster, they made him WANT to harm them. All I can say is, we did this to ourselves. Do you think if the humans in the novel acted differently that the monster's actions and thoughts would have been altered?

  1. UH HUH! I 100% agree with you! Humans caused themselves trouble by hating the monster first! I would also say the reason why the monster is coming after Victor's family is because he created the monster, only to hate him, and all the monster wants is to be loved by SOMEONE! And you would think at least his creator would love him, but he doesn't. This causes the beast to rebel and destroy Victor's life! I like the blog.

  2. I fully agree with Nathan... It is the humans fault. If they showed love and concern to the monster, than the monster would display those qualities back towards them.

  3. Yes ,100%! All the creation sought was love, compassion, and friendship. Instead he got people filled with horror, ready to kill him. Only because he looked deformed. And that is WRONG!!!

  4. Amanda, This is what you should do. Rewrite FRANKENSTEIN in the format of THE 13 REASONS WHY. The monster could record and send a tape to all the people who contributed to his pain. One tape could go to the De Lacey's, one to the man who shot him after he saved the drowning girl...Maybe we'll do this in class.

  6. wow!!!! Awesome thought! I definitely agree with everyone. If people acted nice to the monster and if they would not have been so quick to judge him, I think that the monster would have liked humans and even tried to embrace their culture and knowledge. It was because of the mean actions of humans that the monster was so malicious.

I love Mr. Davis's idea. It would be so cool to rewrite the novel in the format of 13 reasons why!

  7. Woah! Never thought about it that way but i completely 100% agree with you! If people actually gave the monster a chance he probably would have stayed good and not have gone so violent on them. Good job Amanda.

  8. Yes. If people showed the Monster love, the Monster would have been good to them. Instead they treat him like crap adn turn him fro good to evil.

  9. I agree woth everyone else, if people could get past the creatures grotesque appearance and befriend him the novel would have taken quite a different(and probably pretty boring) turn.
